Kimi K3 is available, but its open weights are not yet.
Kimi’s new flagship is live in its products and API, but the downloadable weights and fuller technical report are promised by 27 July 2026.
Add it to the Lab now and design matched long-horizon tests. Do not describe it as downloadable until the weights actually land on or after 27 July, and do not infer cheap from open.
Why this may matter
K3 could become an important open model for long-context coding and knowledge work. Today, however, it is a hosted service whose total reasoning cost, operational fit and promised weight release still need checking.
Kimi warns that missing reasoning history can destabilise output and that K3 may make unexpected decisions when intent is ambiguous. Preserve the session and constrain its authority explicitly.
